Pre-Requisites
Please do NOT try and progress through the setup instructions below until you have tested your internet connection. Without a reliable, working internet connection you will not be able to pickup your email! Many problems we see stem from trying to setup the Iridium connection AND the email software at the same time - and when it doesn't work you have twice as many problems to figure out!
Before you go any further verify that you can dial the internet reliably and open up a small web page without any trouble, eg: http://www.google.com
Login Details
Your username and password are supplied by MailASail. If you have lost them, (or need to create an account), then please contact: support@mailasail.com
These login details are required to access the system from both your email program and also if you are in an internet cafe and logging in via the webmail at: http://www.mailasail.com/webmail

Manual Setup Without Compression Software
It's not required that you use our compression software at all. If you are unable to download it, or perhaps you want to access email from your mobile phone, palm pilot, etc, then you can simply connect to our email servers as you would a normal "POP" email account.
The steps are quite generic and apply for nearly any email account:
- Create a new "account" in your email program
- Go through the setup steps and make sure that you enter the "Username" and "Password" correctly as per your MailASail account details.
The other important questions are the server details. These are:
incoming server: mail.mailasail.com
outgoing server: mail.mailasail.com
THIS BIT IS IMPORTANT OR YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO SEND MAIL
- There is usually an option labelled something like: "My server requires Authentication" - this makes your email program send a username and password when you send mail as well as when you retrieve it. If this option is not set you will experience a situation where you will be able to retrieve mail, but not send it!
Problems
Many problems are due to Internet connectivity issues (ie lack of). The first test you should do is to try and connect to the internet, then use some other method (like your web browser) to prove that you really do have a connection
If you can prove that you can access web pages, but cannot access your email then please send a request for more help to: support@mailasail.com (either use your existing email account or log into our webmail system from the front page)
Please make sure that you tell us:
- The exact text of any error messages that you can see. Whilst we agree that they often look quite cryptic they do in fact contain important information that we need in order to figure out what is wrong with your configuration.
- Also remember to include basic information like what version of of any software you are using, which email program, how you are dialing into the internet, etc.
